According to Fred DuQuesnay, this is the "statue of Father Joseph Dupont a Jesuit Priest who was in Jamaica. The original statue was destroyed in the 1907 earthquake (Cundall's Historic Jamaica), and funds were raised to erect a new one which was placed in the same location (Parade). This was subsequently moved to the grounds of the Sts. Peter and Paul Church on Old Hope Road and is still there."

Statue of Sir Charles Metcalfe, governor of Jamaica from 1839 to 1842. It is represented on the 1921 three shilling stamp, and reportedly stood at the very bottom of King Street, looking out to sea.
