ROYAL MILITARY ACADEMY, CHELSEA (ENGLAND)

Children at the Royal Military Academy Chelsea, that were sponsored by the West India Regiment, and whose fathers served with this Regiment.

The Normal & Model Schools at the RMA, were instructing volunteers, both Military & Civilian to become Monitors, Assistant School Master and finally Schoolmaster. At the assistant School Master stage, the students were sent out to their Regiment to gain more experience under the tutelage of the School Master there.

I have constructed a pseudo Census for the ten year periods to 1841. More as a statistical head count than the official UK Census.

There was also an Infant/Female Asylum at Southampton. Boys were sent there as mentors and helpers until such time as they were okd enough to be apprenticed or enlisted for the Army
