NEGROES Imported from Africa into the said Island and Exported from the said Island Yearly between 22 September 1702 and 31 December 1749.

[JamaicanFamilySearch NOTES:
1. Data taken from Long's Manuscripts which were presented by C. E. Long, Esq. to the British Museum in March 1842.
2. To this original report on the number of slaves (1702 to 1749), which bears a Total, Long added a fifth column, with the net amount between Imports and Exports being called "For Jamaica" and "Kept in the Island."
3. From his Notes in the margin, it appears that he based his numbers for 1750 through 1787 on slave reports from the Inspector General and Privy Council Reports.]

[NOTE BY LONG:]
N.B. there were two accounts delivered by the Inspector General.  The first is in the Volume of the Evidence Reported by the Privy Council.  The second (which I have followed) was delivered subsequent to that Report, by being the latest I suppose it is most correct.
Mr. Edwards probably has made his compilation to the year 1774 from Mr. Fuller's Return, which differs in 1773 and 1774, from the Inspector General's.  But the difference is not very important, it makes the number retained from year 1769 to 1774 only 1142 less than the Inspector General's.
