AMERICAN LOYALISTS IN JAMAICA 1783

LAND GRANTS

On 6th October, 1781, the "Cornwall Chronicle" newspaper published a letter, dated 18th August, from a "Gentleman in Georgia" to a correspondent in Jamaica:

"I am exceeding sorry to tell you, that I consider the greatest part of your and every other person's debts in Carolina to be totally lost; that country and this, except the very small part of them that our troops cover, have almost unanimously revolted and are become more violent, cruel and obstinate rebels than ever."
