The Will of Alexander Facey


Dated Second June 1925

Lodged in the Record Office on 9th December 1925


This is the last Will and Testament of me Alexander Facey of Palm, in the Parish of St. Catherine, in the island of Jamaica in the County of Middlesex, made this Second day of
June in the year of Our Lord one thousand nine hundred twenty five.

I hereby revoke all wills by me at any time heretofore made. I appoint Mr. Francis Robinson of Bonnett, in the Parish of St. Catherine to be my Executor, and direct that my just Debts and Funeral and Testamentary Expenses shall be paid as soon as conveniently may be after my decease.

I give and bequeath unto

1st To my eldest son Amos Facey from the Gully at the old boiling house on the left hand side up to Wilson's line up Mountain Pass Road, that piece following the track to the big cane piece to a marked stake to the opposite Cedar stump at Marlin Gully up to the Soursap (sic) tree.

2nd To My son George Facey the piece of land from Mr. Campbell's swinging gate following the tract to the Long mango tree to the Tamerind (sic) tree up to his house, following the wire fence out to the road to a Bamboo root, then at Winter's gully, from a Peminto (sic) tree taking all the Breadfruit trees to a centre stake down to Stony gully, Again from the wire fence at John Mais' gate to the wire fence at Wilson's Cultivation, at the New Cow Pen to the Bamboo root at the gutter following the gutter right down to the deep hole at Short Cut following the wire right through the wood to the Corner of a wire fence, to Lydia's corner at the Bamboo gate, right down the gully to the wire fence at Robert Harrisons's field, following that wire fence to Sarah Lawrence turning up the gully up the gutter to a Bastard Locust tree turning up the hill to a Logwood tree at Mountain Pass Road. This piece of land, I give to my sons George and Samuel Facey.

3rd From the gate at the Abbay tree following the wire fence down into Bailey's gully, following the gully down to a corner of a wire fence, following the fence up the hill to a level, to a tract (sic), following that on your left hand to an Abbay tree gate. This piece of land I give to my daughter Alice Facey.

4th I give to my daughter Mary Jane Facey the piece of land beginning from An Abboy tree at Alice following the wire up to Mantle's line and turn down the line into Bailey's gully.

5th I hereby give to my daughter Annie Facey from the corner at Alice's gate to a Barktree Stump, turning across to the high rock at Winter's gully.

6th I give to my daughter Lydia Facey, from the corner at Mary Jane following the line Mantle down to the gutter and turning down the gully straight to a Soursap tree between herself and Amos Facey and turning up the line of Alice Facey.

7th I likewise give to my son Samuel Facey the piece of land from the corner at Alice Facey to the Rock at Winter right down the gully to the Corner of the two gullies, then right up the gutter to the opposite Cedar Stump the corner at Amos Facey. Also from the Long mango into the dry gully and turning up the gully to Mr. James Grahams line to the corner of that line and following that line out to the Main Road. Also the land upon which the present house stands with the house attached.
I likewise give to my daughter Lydia Facey from the deep hole at Short Cut following the wire up to the corner of the wire turning down the wire straight to the Bamboo gate turning down the gutter to the line of Samuel Facey.

8th To my daughter Rosey Ann Facey from the Mango tree at the Bamboo gate following the tract down to Stony gully at George Facey's line and turning up the gully up to the gutter at the round hole following that gutter to the line of George and Samuel Facey.

9th I give to my daughter Cinderella Facey, from the Mango tree, corner of Rosey Facey down into the dry gully turning straight down that gully to the Pimento tree, Corner of George Facey and turning across to join upon Rosey Facey at the Breadfruit tree.

10th I give to Austin Facey from the corner of Mantle to the gutter at Lydia following the tract out to the road alsothe piece at Mr. Campbell's gate, following the line to the dry gully, and following that gully up to the road, corner of Samuel Facey, then turning up to the Long Mango at Samuel Facey and then across the Swinging gate at Mr. Campbel's line.

11th. I give to my son and daughter Eustace and Adella Facey from the gutter of Lydia Facey and Austin a tract leading from that corner to tract to(sic) a Mango tree on the road, then turning down to a Prickle Yellow tree corner of George and Samuel Facey following the wire to the corner of George Samuel, and Lydia's corner and turning up the gutter into the tract at Austin Facey.

12th. I give and bequeath to my son Arthur Facey from the high rock following the line of Basley at the Bamboo root at the Main tract turning down the hill following Pusey's line straight down the gutter turning down the gutter to the dry gully, turning up to the high rock at Bailey's Corner. This piece I give to Arthur along with the piece which he bought from me. This piece is called Big field or Johnson's gully.

13th. I give and bequeath to Daniel Facey the piece of land upon which he is dwelling (Mais line) from the road way to a gutter then turning down the gutter to the line of Samuel Facey, and turning out to the Main Road, and another piece from the dry gully following the line of James Smith into the gutter line of Thomas Wilson, then turning down the gutter to a stake, and cutting across into the dry gully.

14th. I also give to Cinderella a piece of land from the corner of Daniel Facey following from the corner of Daniel to the gutter on Amos into the dry Gully into the road.

15th. As regard my property at Berkshire Hall. From the corner at Samuel Brown following Ben Facey's line into the tract on the centre of the ridge, following the tract to Nathaniel Francis old boiling house turning around the tract right down to Mango Grove rise, following little river back to Samy Brown's corner I give to my son Amos Facey.

16th. I also give and bequeath to my son, George Facey from the ridge of Amos Facey's corner following Ben Facey's line to Boswell's corner and Bon Facey's corner following Mango Grove river, turning up the gutter to the tract at Amos Facey's corner.

17th. I also give to my daughter Cinderella a piece of land from the Guango tree following the gutter to Larchin's boiling house.

18th. I have given to Austin Facey a piece of land from Simeon's Corner following the line to the gutter and following the gutter down to the Little river.

19th. I give to my four daughters, viz. Alice, Mary Jane, Annie and Rosey Ann from the corner at Austin following Francis Robinson's line to the tract on the ridge down to the Cedar Stump at the fording.

20th. To my daughter Lydia Facey, I give this piece which leads from Mango Grove river following the tract below Amos, which joins on Cinderella and on George Facey and turning down the gutter to Larchin Francis' boiling house.

21st. To my son Samuel Facey I give from the ridge at Francis Robinson to the river at Bailey's gully following the river to the Cedar stump at the washing fording.

22nd. Be it further known that after my death my wife Isidora Facey, is authorized my successor in my place to her life's end, unless she be again reunited in marriage with another man.

23rd. Also I direct that after the death of my wife Isidora Facey, my bed be given over to my son Samuel Facey.

24th. By this my last will and Testament, I direct that, should my wife Isidora Facey still be unmarried, after her death my iron mill coppers also my cart and horses be given over to my three sons, viz. Amos, George and Samuel for their own support.

25th. By this my last will and Testament I do give, will and bequeathed (sic) to the person herein named absolutely for their benefit.
