The purpose of this page is to direct you in the use of the microfilms which can be rented and used at Mormon Family History Centers throughout the world. Here the microfilms are listed in 3 different sections:
1. Microfilms of Civil Registration of births, marriages and deaths for 1879 to 20th century.
2. Microfilms of Anglican Parish Register Transcripts 1664-1880, and Dissenter Marriages. (The term "Parish Register" always refers to records of the "Anglican Church," the Church of England in Jamaica
3. Microfilms of actual existing wills.
This is an extensive collection. Start by consulting the Index in order to get the Registration District and Number you need. The index was listed by year and by parish. The indexes generally cover the following years:
Births 1879-1920
Marriages 1880-1950
Deaths 1878 - 1960 approximately.
Once you have the parish and registration number, you can then order the microfilm that contains a picture of the actual registration form.

It is suggested that you use the catalog on this page, as it contains some corrections to the Family History Library Catalog.
The registers are arranged in 5 series:
1)"Copy Registers” of individual parishes, from the earliest records up through 1825.
2) Parish Registers (transcripts compiled at the Diocesan Office), 1826-1850, 1860-1871. (Some of the records for 1837-1839 were transcribed into the back of the early “Copy Registers” after the 1825 records, and will be seen listed as such in the Index .)
3) Parish registers, new series (transcripts), 1849-1860.
4) Law 6 Registers (refers to Law 6 passed in 1871).
5) Birth and death registers 1844-1851 (mandated by law in 1843, but the law was not observed and was repealed).
The Index for each parish covers the first three registers listed above. There is also an incomplete Index for some records for 1860-1871. The Law 6 Registers have a separate Index.
