This fifth day of February nineteen hundred and ten.
I Robert Kerr Strachan of Mearns, in the parish of Saint Ann, being weak of body, but of very sound mind, thanks be given unto god, therefore, calling to mind the mortality of the body, knowing it is appointed unto all men to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say, principally and first of all.
I Give and recommend my soul to almighty God who gave it, and my body I commend to the earth to be buried, in a decent and Christian like manner, at the discretion of my executor, nothing doubting but that at the general resurrection at the last day I shall receive same again of the Almighty power of God.
And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give and bequeath in the following manner and form:
I give and bequeath to my wife Eliza Strachan my property Mearns to do and to dispose with as she have a mind also the house and household goods and the stocks found on the place.
I do hereby appoint Herbert Kerr Halsall as my executor:
I do hereby testify and confirm this my last will and testament in the presence of the undersigned witnesses whereof I hereunto set my hand seal this day as already mentioned.

The Will was probated in 1912 and recorded in the Island Records Office.
This is the last will and testament of Eliza Strachan of Mearns in the
parish of Saint Ann, in this island of Jamaica.
I give of the property now in my possession to the persons hereinafter mentioned the items attached to their names in the form following namely.
1. To Jessie Rebecca Strachan, my daughter, one hundred acres of land at Hog Pond Run by bottom mountain line: also one cow, Maggie.
2. To Mary Jane Halsall two hundred acres of land, in her own interest and that of her children now living with the exception of Herbert Kerr Halsall otherwise provided for, the same running from Negro House Hill to French Line: also one cow, Violet.
3. To my grandson, Herbert Kerr Halsall the Mearns House and with it one hundred and fifty acres of land around it: also one cow Domer: and I commit the care of my other grandson Sylvester Strachan during his minority to this my grandson Herbert Kerr Halsall.
4. To my grandson Sylvester Strachan fifty acres of land on the western border of the portion named for Herbert Kerr Halsall, running down to the line at Coleston, also Domers heifer.
5. To Lilias Olive Halsall one cow Blackie.
6. To Robert John Halsall, Maggies heifer.
7. To Ivy May Halsall, Blackies bulkin.
8. To Jessie Rebecca Halsall and Victoria Jane Halsall in equal shares, Violets calf.
9. To Edward George Halsall, one black she goat, Sallie.
10. The bull, Bright, is left on the property for general service.
And I hereby appoint my grandson Herbert Kerr Halsall as sole executor of this my will.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this twenty eight day of July one thousand nine hundred and ten.
