In the name of God Amen I Thomas Whitehorne of Laughlands of ye parish of St Anns in ye island of Jamaica aforesaid planter being at present very sick and weake of body but of sound and perfect memory praised be God for ye same but considering the uncertinty of human life doe make contitute ordaine appoint and declare this my last will and testament hereby revoking disanulling all others by me formerly made either in word or writing and this only to be taken for my last will and testament and noe other and first being hearkly and sorry and pentent for my sinns past and humbly begging forgiveness for the same I commit and commend my soule into the hands of Almighty God my creator hoping and assuredly believeing through ye merits and intercession of my blessed saviour Jesus Christ to be gratiously excepted by him and my body to the earth to be buried in such decent and Christian manner as to my executors hereafter named shall seems meet and convenient and for such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with all my will and desire is that the same my be dispssing ( disposed ) in manner and forms following Imprimis I will that all my just debts be paid or what in conserene' I owe to any manner of persons be fully satisfied by my executors ( rix) ; Item I doe appoint my dearly beloved wife Elizabeth Whitehorne to be my sole executtrix to executed performs this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning here of unto whoms I give one third part of my estate both real and personall dureing her life , but if she happens to marry after my decease one that is debauched and should abuse the negroes and imbezell or make havoke and spoyl of any of the stock goods and chattels belonging to the plantation then she be allowed one rooms and the plantation to be managed and governed at the discretion of the trustees hereafter named , ;Item my will is that my son Thomas at the age of one and twenty years shall enjoy this plantation whereon I now live with a parcell of land I bought of John Adams bounding on the same containing by estimation forty seven acres and a halfe or thereabouts be the same more or less and one piece or parcell of land containing by estimacon ninety acres or thereabouts be the same more or less bounding easterly upon Laughlands great river southerly upon unpossest mountainous land westerly on Rebecca Whitehorne northerly on Lawrence Lindeno in case he makes a title by estimation one hundred and twenty acres be it more or less bounding east upon Laughlands great river west on James Casement north on Rebecca Whitehorne south on my owne land aforementioned and likewise the one halfe of a parcell of pimento land lyeing at Maria Mona in the parish of St James bounding southerly upon Rebecca Whitehorne and Capt. James Tudor westerly on Limetree valley northerly on Waist land 1vth seven hundred pounds lying in the hands of Mrss. Thomas Clarke merchant in Port Royall towards paying of legascies
Together with all houses edifices woods timber trees money plate household goods chattels horses mares mill still and coppers except these hereafter mentioned and reserved and all other goods and chattel whatso ever 1vth : all my Negroe men Women and Children except as afore excepted and all other things belonging or appertaining unto me at the time of my decease to have and to hold all and singular ye premises aforesaid: to him my son Thomas his hiers executors administrators and assignes and ... for his and their proper use and uses and behalfes forever ;Item I give and bequeath unto my son Bartholomew Whitehorne at ye age of one and twenty years a parcell of land lyeing at little river in the parish of St James formerly in the possession of Lawrence Feite deceased containing by estimation two hundred sixty and seaven acres be it more or less bounding south and southwest on mountainous north on the sea and west on ye little river together with all houses edifices woods timber trees thereunto belonging appertaining 1vth three hundred pounds to be paid him at the same age by my son Thomas 1vth : one young breeding mare and one young cow to have and to hold all and singular the aforesaid premises to him my son Bartholomew his hiers executors and administrators and assignes forever to or for his and their proper use and uses and behalfes ;Item I give and bequeath unto my son William Whitehorne at the age of one and twenty years a parcell of land lying at stony gully in the parish of St Ann containing by estimation one hundred and sixty acres be it more or less bounding east on my brother William Whitehorne esqres. South on Richard Browns lately deced. And James Gray west on Thomas Smeat jun.? norther on ye Iron Shore 1vth : one half of a parcell of pimento land lyeing at Maria Bona in the parish of St James the other to rebound to my son Thomas as aforesaid share and share alike 1vth : one parcell of land lyeing and adjoyning upon Mammee bay ye 10th : I bought of Daniell Heling in case he makes a firmed lawfully title containing by estimation two hundred acres or there abouts be it more or less and if no title be made then that money 10th : I have paid in part for the same if recovered to be his use 1vth : two young negroes boyes called Manuell and Oliver 10th : one young breeding mare and one young cow 10th : four hundred pounds to be paid him by my son Thomas . To have and to hold all and singular the premises aforesaid to him my son William with all houses edifices woods timber trees belonging or pertaining to the aforesaid premises to him his hiers executors administrators and assignes forever to or for his and their proper use and uses and behalfes ;Item I give and bequeath unto my sister Mary Arthur tenn pounds to be paid her one year after my decease ;Item my will is that when my son in law John Owen goeth to settle upon his owns land at little river if his negroes Manuell is not come in at ye : time of his settling there then he to have a Negroe in his rooms called Tom and if the said Manuell shall or will come in at any time hereafter and hath not committed such crimes whereby he hath deserved death and is not executed then the said John Owen is to keepe him and returnes the negroes Tom for the use of this plantation and furthermore it is my will that ye said John Owen shall not have any harbour or abiding place at anytime in this plantation hereafter ;Item if it please God one of my children dye without issue then his share to be equally divided amongst the survivours admitt that two dyes without issue then to fall to the other surviveing and in case all my children dye without issue then what is therein mentioned to fall to my sister Mary Arthur her heirs executors adminstrator and assignes forever only she or they paying out of it one hundred pounds for ye : use of the poor of the parish lastly I nominate ordaine constitute and appoint my dearly beloved wife to be my sole executor ( rix) as a fore mentioned and I bequeast and desire my well beloved brothers William Whitehorne esqre and Daniell Fracy to be my trustees 1vth : the assistance of my dearly beloved wife Elizabeth afore mentioned and hope they will to the utmost of their power and abilityes see this my last will see this my last will and testament fully performed to the true intent and meaning hereof to whom I committ my children that they take care to see them educated and brought up good nutrimt and what every Christian ought to know that is in the fear of God and a competency of learning . In witness where of I have sett my hand and seale the sixth day of November in ye year of our Lord 1691 .

The third day of the first month called march in the year of our Lord one thousnd six hundred seventy and nine I Bartholomew Whitehorne of the parish of St Anns on the Northside of the island of Jamaica planter being at present very weak in body . yet of good memory for vv ch praises be given to ye Lord God forever and now knowing the uncertainty of this life and ye certainty that all flesh must yeild unto death and not knowing when it may pleas the Lord God to call for me out of this world doe make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and forme following that is to say first ... chiefly I commit my soul to God that gave it and my body to be buried as ... providenes shall order and as for such worldly goods and estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me , I give and bequeath the same in manner and forms following that is to say , imprimis I will that all my just debts be paid or what in conseienes I owe to any manner of be fully satisfied by my ... Executrix hereafter named ;Item I nominate ordaine and appoint my well beloved wife Elizabeth Whitehorne to be my sole Executrix to execute and performe this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning hereof to whom I give and bequeath the just and equal third parts of my estate both real and personall or of what kinde or nature so ever it befor her life time and then to fall to the children ;Item I give and bequeath this parcell of land wherein I dwell as also the housing and the third part of the chattell that then may be as also that ninety acres of land that lyeth above laughlands river joyning upon my brother thomas iv:y: three hundred and twenty acres on the other side laughlands river over against John Mackfarlins plantation unto my daughter Rebecka Whitehorne to her and her hiers forever ;Item I give and bequeath the other third part of my estate both reall and personal or of what kinde or nature so ever it be unto my daughter Jane when she cometh to be of age ( to witt) all that parcell of land belonging unto me that is over Laughlands river 1v ch is part of it oposit ag : this land wheron I now dwell it being one hundred and ninety acres and it is for my daughter Jane and her hiers forever 1vth : a third part equally of what goods or chattels shall or maybe whensoever she shall come of the age of 16 : years ;Item I give and bequeath unto my sister Mary Whitehorne tenn acres of that land 1vth : is over the river oposite against me 1v ch : is to be for my sister Mary her hiers and assignes forever , ;Item I give and bequeath all that parcell of pimento land that lyeth above ... Mara Bona bay it being ninety acres and bounding upon my brother Thomas land I nominate and appoint John Mackfarlin , Richard Brown and my brother Thomas Whitehorne to be trustees and supervisors of this my last will and testament and further more it is my will and minde that if my wife should die before my children ( to witt ) Rebecka and Jane be of age that then and in that case my daughters shall be my sole Executrixes also I nominate and appoint my well beloved friends John Mackfarlin and Richard Browne and my brother Thomas Whitehorne to be supevisors of this my said will to whom in the case aforesaid I commit my said children Rebecka and Jane while attain to the age of eighteen years but if in case my wife and children thou dye also that then and in that case I give and bequeath all my estate that then shall be left unto my brother John and the rest of my brothers and sisters to them and their hiers forever and I doe by these presents revoke and disanull all former wills by me made declareing this to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I the said Bartholomew Whitehorne the testator have to this my last will and testament putt my hand and seale the day and year first above written ~

In the name of God Amen I Peter Stoddard of St Jago de la Vega in ye parish of St Katherines in ye island of Jamaica planter being sick and weake in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory thanks be to God do make and ordain this my last will and testamment in manner and form following imperimis I command my soul unto ye name of God my creator hoping for pardon and renunciation of sin this ye ... of Jesus Christ my redeemer and my body I commit to ye ... to be Christianly interned by my executrix hereafter named ;Item what worldly good God hath helped me with of whatever kind ye same be and in whersoever ye same doth commit which is in lands houses tenants debts money jewells plate household stuff ... horses cattle stock even all my whole estate both real and personal I do give devise and bequeath ye same unto my only and beloved daughter Jane Stoddard to have and to hold ye same unto my said daughter Jane Stoddard her hiers and assignes to ye said Jane Stoddard her hiers and assignes forever ;Item I do constitute and appoint my said daughter Jane Stoddard ... be ye whole and sole executrix of this my last will and testament lastly I do hereby revoke annull and make void all former wills and testament wheresoever by me heretofore made constituting and appointing this only to be my last will and testament in witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal ye sixth day of April seventeen hundred

In the name of God Amen I John Marshall of Port Royall in Jamaica aforesaid blacksmith being sick and weake in body but of a sound mind memory and understanding praised be Almighty God for the same and taking into serious consideration the shortness of life and certainty of death have made constituted and appointed and by these presents doe make constitute and appoint this present writing my last will and testament in forme following vizt.
Impris I will that my just debts and funneral charges be satisfied and paid.
;Item I give devise and bequeath unto my loving wife Sarah Marshall all full and whole estate reall and personall consisting in houses lands tenements chattles negroes gold silver goods moneys plate jewells wares or any manner of merchandize or demands whatsoever or wheresoever in this island of Jamaica or else where to have and to hold the same to her the said Sarah Marshall her heirs executors administrators and assignes for ever
Lastly I nominate constitute my said loveing wife Sarah Marshall sole executrix of this my last will and testament revoking all former will or wills by me made or hereunto sett my hand and seale the fourteenth day of January anno domini one thousand seven hundred and six

In the name of God Amen I Iervase Marshall of Port Royal in the island aforesaid , mariner being at the time very weak in body but of a good sound and perfect mind memory and understanding / God be praised therefore / but calling to mind and consideringne certainty of death and the incertainty of the time and manner thereof doe therefore make, publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say first & principally I commend and resign my immortall soule to Almighty God my hereafter hopeing to obtain full and for pardon and forgiveness of all my sinns in and by meritts of my blessed Lord and saviour Jesus Christ and my body I committ to the earth to be desently buried at the discretion of my executrix hereafter named and as for touching and concerning the disposall of all such temporall estate as well reall and personall of what nature kind quality or condition so ever wherewith it shall please God to bless me at the time of my decease or which shall there belong or appertain unto me I doe give devise bequeath and dispose therof followeth viz.
Imprimis I will that all those debts which I shall owe unto any person or persons at the time of my decease either by ... or conscience be well and firstly satisfied contented and paid by my executrix hereafter named within conveiient time after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto Edward Carrey of Port Royal aforesaid mariner all my wearing appearell whatsoever and one gold ring to ware in rememberance of me.
Item I give and bequeath unto my good friend Joyce Phillips of Port Royal aforesaid widow one other gold ring to ware in rememberance of me.
Item one moriety or halfe part of all the rest residue and remainder of my said estate both reall and personal I give devise and bequeath unto my loveing father Iarvase Marshall of New York gent. And to his heirs and assignes forever .
Item the other moirty or halfe part thereof I give devise and bequeath unto my loveing sister Jane Marshall and Mary Marshall both of New York aforesaid and to be equally divided between them share and share alike but if either of my said sisters shall happen to dye before the receipt or payment of her part or share thereof then I give devise and bequeath the same unto the survivors and to her heirs and assignes forever .
And lastly I doe nominate and appoint the above mentioned Joyce Phillips to be the sole executrix of this my last will and testament in witness whereof i have hereunto sett my hand and seale the fifteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eight.

In the name of God Amen I Bartholomew Whitehorne of the parish of St Ann gentleman being in perfect health and of sound mind and memory do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following impris. I give devise and bequeath unto Mrs Phillis Smith with whom I intend by Gods permision to intermarry the sum of eighteen hundred pounds to be paid to her out of my personal estate of which I shall be possessed at the time of my decease ;Item I do hereby nominate and appoint the said Mrs Phillis smith my whole and sole Exix of this my last will and testament and lastly I do hereby revoke all former and other wills by me made do publish and declare this to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this third day of May anno dm. 1708

In the name of God Amen I William Whitehorn late of the island of Jamaica but now of London gentleman being infirm in body but of sound mind and memory thanks be to God do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say first I comend my soul into the hand of Almighty God and my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my brother in law Mr Samuel Ashhurst of London stationer and as touching that worldly estate which God of his infinate mercy hath bestowed upon me I give and dispose thereof as follows Imprimis I will and desire that all my just debts be as soon as conveniently may be after my decease fully paid and satisfied ;Item it is my will and desire and I do hereby intreat my dear and loving wife that she will&. . .three calendar months next after my decease if she will be thereunto required by my Executors hereafter named or either of them and at the costs and charges of my eldest son William Whitehorn or his hieres and in such manner and form as the council learned in the law of my said executors or either of them shall advise remise and release all such right and title claim and demand whatsoever as she shall have or of right ought to have or can or may claim or demand of in unto and out of my freehold estate messages lands tennennents and heriditam in the island of Jamaica at the time of my decease and also all her right title claim and demand whatsoever of in unto and out of my personall estates in the said island of Jamaica or in that part of Great Britain called England except what she can or may claim or demand by virtue of this my will and also except the sume of five hundred pounds which for my exors are obliged to pay her or any other person for her life after my decease and which I would have paid her accordingly and in consideration of such release as aforesaid I give and bequeath unto my said wife one hundred and eighty pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid unto my said wife or her assignes by my said son his heirs guardians or assignes in the city of London free from all manner of taxes charges and reprizes whatsoever during her natural life at two of the most usuall feast days or termes in the birth of our Lord God and the Nativety of St John the Baptist by even and equall portions the first payment thereof to be made on such of the feast days as shall first and next happen after my decease and my mind and will is that the said annuity or rent charge be issuing and payable out of my freehold estate messuages lands tennements and heriditaments in the said island of Jamaica and I do hereby charge my said estate messuages lands tenements and heriditaments with the payment there of and my mind and will is that as often as any default shall be made in payment of said annuity or rent charges of one hundred and eighty pounds or any part thereof by paid of thirty days next after either of the feasts aforesaid that then it shall and may be lawfull to and for my said wife and assignes to enter upon my said estate messuages lands tenements and heriditaments or upon any part thereof and to make distress or distress for the same or any part thereof and the distress or distresses so taken to impound and detain till payment there of with the arrears and charges of distress . Provided never the less and it is my mind and will that in case my said wife shall neglect or refuse to make such release as aforesaid that the annuity or rent charge herein before given and bequeathed unto her shall not be viod ;Item I give and devise all and singular my messuages lands tenements plantations working houses buildings and reall estate whatsoever situate lyeing and being in the island of Jamaica and in that part of Great Britain called England or elsewhere subject to the payment of the said annuity of one hundred and eighty pounds to my said wife dureing her life upon her makeing such release as aforesaid unto my said eldest son William Whitehorne and to the hiers of his body lawfully begotten or to be begotten he or they paying unto my youngest son Samuel Whitehorne the sums of five and twenty hundred pounds of Jamaica money when and as soon as my said son William shall happen to dye without issue then I give and devise my said estate subject to the payment of the said annuity of one hundred and eighty pounds to my said wife dureing her life upon her making such release as aforesaid unto my youngest son Samuel and to the hiers of his body lawfully begotten on to be begotten but in case my said son Samuel shall happen to dye without issue or shall leave issue and all such issue shall happen to dye without issue then I give and devise my said estate unto my said wife her hieres and assignes forever so as my said wife do and shall at her own costs and charges within three months next after she shall come into the possession of my said estate give security by mortgage of the said estate for the payment of the sume of five hundred pounds of Jamaica within fifteen months after her decease unto such person and persons as shall be then hier or hiers of the body of my brother Samuel Ashhurst the said mortgage to be made as council shall advise and so as she do pay out of my said estate the sume of seven hundred pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain unto my brother Samuel Ashhurst within fifteen months after she shall come into the possession of my said estate as also the sume of five hundred pounds a piece of Jamaica money to my nephews William and Wager Bancks and unto my niece Sarah Bancks with in five years after she shall come into the possession of my said estate and I do here by charge my said estate with the payment of the last mentioned severall sumes accordingly ;Item i give and devise { bequeath } unto my nephew Wager and niece Sarah Bancks two hundred pounds a piece of lawfull money of Jamaica when they shall attain their respective ages of one and twenty years in case either of my said sons William and Samuel or any issue or descendants of them or either of them shall be then living and my mind and will is that the said legacys be raised and paid by and I do hereby charge my said estate in the said island of Jamaica with the payment of the same accordingly ;Item I give and bequeath unto my said wife all my household goods furniture plate gold watch jewells cloaths as well linnen silk and wollen which I shall have in that part of Great Britain called England at the time of my decease ;Item my mind and will is and I do hereby order and direct that all the rest and residue of my personall estate after my debts legacys and funerall expenses shall be held possessed and enjoy my reall estate or ought to hold possess and enjoy the same pursuant to the true intent and meaning of this my will ;Item my mind an will is and I do hereby order and direct my exors hereafter named out of the rents issues and profitts of my said estates to pay and allow unto my eldest son William Whitehorne the yearly sum of forty pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain for his maintenance and education untill he shall attain the age of twelve years and afterwards the yearly sume of one hundred pounds of like money for his maintenance and education until he shall attain the age of nineteen years ;Item my mind and will is and I do hereby order and direct my said exors out of the rents issues and profits of my said estates to pay and allow unto my youngest son Samuel Whitehorne the yearly sume of forty pounds of like money for his maintenance and education untill he shall attain the age of twelve years and afterwards the yearly sume of one hundred pounds of like money for his maintenance and education untill he shall attain the age of nineteen years ;Item I give and bequeath unto my loving wife my blackboy called Cudjoe and my blackwoman called Quashabau for and during the term of her natural life { in case they both live so long } and from and after the decease of my said wife I give and bequeath the said black boy and blackwoman unto my eldest son William Whitehorne and his hiers ;Item I do hereby order and appoint my said brother in law Mr Samuel Ashhurst guardian to all my children untill they shall attain their severall and respective ages of eighteen years and in case my said brother Mr Samuel Ashhurst shall happen to dye before they shall attain their severall and respective ages of eighteen years then I committ the care and guardianship of my said children unto Peter Beckford of the island of Jamaica esqre. Untill they shall attain their severall and respective ages aforesaid and I do hereby desire Mr Francis nelson Mr John Wallen and Mr Job Williams to be overseers of this my will and lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint the said Mr Peter Beckford and my said brother in law Mr Samuel Ashhurst exors of this my last will and testament and I do give them tenn pounds a piece to buy them mourning and I hereby revoke and make viod all former wills by me at any time heretofore made and do confirm this only to be my last will and testament in wittness where of the said testator William Whitehorne have to this my last will and testament contained in four sheets of paper affixed my seal and to every of the said sheets have subscribed my name the tenth day of September anno domini 1714 .
