Will of Marie Clementine Sorapure

Of "Barnes Villa" in the City and Parish of Kingston, Spinster

This is the LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF me MARIE CLEMENTINE SORAPURE of "Barnes Villa" No. 37 Victoria Avenue in the city and parish of Kingston, Spinster. I NOMINATE AND APPOINT ALFRED ERNEST FOUCHE of "The Panche" in the parish of Saint Mary, Planter, sole executor of this my Will. I DIRECT that my debts funeral and Testamentary expenses shall be in the first place chargeable on the shares numbered 87451 to 87550 (both inclusive) in the Colonial Bank of London (which shares are subject to Mortgage charges amounting to about £450 and interest payable to J.R. and M. DeCordova) and which amount with interest under the said Mortgages I declare to be due and payable to my estate by my executor the said Alfred Ernest Fouche.

I DIRECT my Executor to pay the sum of FIVE POUNDS for masses for me in the Holy Trinity Church at Kingston aforesaid, and also to expend TEN POUNDS in the upkeep of the graves of my father the late John Boileau Sorapure, and of my brother the late Eugene Linval Sorapure, and of myself.

I GIVE AND BEQUEATH unto my nephew CYRIL IGNATIUS ALOYSIUS SORAPURE, of Kingston, aforesaid, Clerk, the sum of ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE POUNDS and I declare that his receipt in writing shall be a good and sufficient discharge and release for the same notwithstanding he may not be of age at the time of payment thereof.

I GIVE AND BEQUEATH unto my niece MARIE LEONTINE SORAPURE of Kingston, aforesaid, the sum of EIGHTY POUNDS and I declare that her receipt in writing shall be a good and sufficient discharge and release for the same notwithstanding she may not be of age at the time of payment thereof.

I GIVE AND BEQUEATH unto my niece LOUISE EUGENIE SIMONS the wife of Eugene Simons the sum of FIFTY POUNDS.

I GIVE AND BEQUEATH unto my niece MARIE ESTELLE FOUCHE the wife of the said Alfred Ernest Fouche the sum of FIFTY POUNDS.

I GIVE AND BEQUEATH to MARIE JOSEPHINE SORAPURE, the widow of my late brother Eugene Linval Sorapure the sum of FIFTY POUNDS.

I GIVE AND BEQUEATH to my grand nieces THELMA SIMONS and PHILLIS EMMA SIMONS together the sum of THIRTY POUNDS to be paid to their mother the said Louise Eugenie Simons whose receipt in writing I declare shall be a good and sufficient discharge and release for the said sum of thirty pounds.

I GIVE AND BEQUEATH unto my grand niece MARIE BERYL FOUCHE the sum of SIXTY POUNDS to be paid to her mother the said Marie Estelle Fouche whose receipt in writing I declare shall be a good and sufficient discharge and release for the said sum of sixty pounds.

I GIVE AND BEQUEATH unto my nephew LEO JOSEPH SORAPURE the son of my late brother Eugene Linval Sorapure the sum of Twenty five pounds.

I GIVE AND BEQUEATH unto my nephew OSCAR EUGENE SORAPURE the son of my late brother Eugene Linval Sorapure the sum of TWENTY FIVE POUNDS.

I GIVE AND BEQUEATH unto LENA GUTZMER the child of the late John Gutzmer of Carthagena in the Republic of Columbia the sum of TEN POUNDS to be paid to her mother Eva Gutzmer, whose receipt in writing I declare shall be a good and sufficient discharge and release therefor.

I GIVE AND BEQUEATH unto my niece ISABELLE MALABRE the daughter of the late William Malabre of Kingston aforesaid the sum of FIFTY POUNDS.

I GIVE AND BEQUEATH unto FLORENCE DUQUESNAY the daughter of Emile duQuesnay of Kingston aforesaid the sum of TEN POUNDS.

I GIVE AND BEQUEATH unto my old and faithful servant ELIZABETH LEONARD the sum of THREE POUNDS.

I GIVE AND BEQUEATH unto MARY ANN THOMPSON an old servant the sum of ONE POUND.

I GIVE AND DEVISE all my furniture, pictures, china, crockery and Glass ware, silver ware, and household utensils to my nephew the said CYRIL IGNATIUS ALOYSIUS SORAPURE and my nieces the said MARIE ESTELLE FOUCHE, the said LOUISE EUGENIE SIMONS and the said MARIE LEONTINE SORAPURE to be divided amongst them, and in case of any dispute arising as to such division, the whole of the said furniture, wares and household utensils shall be put up and sold by public auction at such time and place and subject to such conditions as my Executor shall see fit, and the proceeds of such sale after deducting all expenses of and incident to such sale, shall be equally divided amongst my said nephew and nieces by my Executor.

I GIVE DEVISE AND BEQUEATH unto the said MARIE JOSEPHINE SORAPURE all my linen and clothing AND I DIRECT that the bequests hereinbefore contained shall all be free of all Probate legacy or succession duty. ALL the rest residue and remainder of my estate real personal or mixed wherein I have any power of disposal and not herein otherwise given or disposed of I give devise and bequeath to my Executor the said Alfred Ernest Fouche and LASTLY revoking all testamentary dispositions heretofore made by me I declare this to be my last Will and Testament AS WITNESS my hand this Twenty Second day of January One thousand nine hundred and six.

SIGNED and ACKNOWLEDGED by the said MARIE CLEMENTINE SORAPURE, as her Last Will and Testament in the presence of us present at the same time who at her request, in her presence, and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.
