PASSENGERS ARRIVED :

Major Blackwell, Aid-de-Camp to General Horneck, Mr. Franklyn, of the Customs, and M. Dumas, President of the Superior Council of St. Domingo, were passengers in his Majesty's schooner Flying Fish, from Port au Prince.

PASSENGERS LEAVING THE ISLAND:

Nov 12 - Edward James, Kingston

MARRIED :

Mr. Joseph Florez to Miss Zipporah Mesquita, both of the Hebrew nation.

At Hermitage Pen, in this parish, last Monday evening, Mr. William Wilson, of Westmorland, to Miss Eleanor Vernon, daughter of Mr. James Vernon.

DIED :

Died, on Saturday morning last, in his way to Savanna-la-Mar, Walter Welch, Esq. His death was occasioned by the following accident: Coming to a steep hill, between Oliphant's and Green Pond, he alighted from his chaise, and, taking the reins in his hand, was walking by the side of it, when, the ground being wet and slippery, he fell before he could recover his legs; the wheel came upon his breast, and, resting on it some minutes before he received assistance (his servants having rode on for some considerable distance), he was so much injured that he expired in two hours after.

He was so far on his way to take possession of the appointment of Deputy Marshal for the parishes of Westmorland, St. Elizabeth's, and Hanover; an office which he had executed in Spanish Town and its dependencies for upwards of seven years; combining power with moderation in the exercise of it, serving many, oppressing none, and doing justice to the extent of his abilities to all. His private character was revered most by those who know him best and who will find it a difficult task to repair his loss. His untimely fate, however, in the midst of the lamentation and regret of his friends, admits at least of this consolation, that the ? of his conduct prepared him for the suddenness of the event, and that having never made a momentary enemy in this life, he may entertain a well founded hope of a sincere and lasting Friend in the next.

At Port au Prince, the 7th last, G. W. Hardyman, Esq. Captain and Paymaster of his Majesty's 13th reg. of foot.

On Tuesday last, at Port Royal, where he had gone for the recovery of his health, Dr. Duncan Charles McGlashan, a respectable Physician, and very old inhabitant of the island.

At Barn Pen, near this town, Miss Leonora Sarah Rieusset.

In this town, Mr. T. Hargreaves.

MISCELLANEOUS :

The Rev. Mr. Woodham, Rector of St. Catherine's, has been appointed Chaplain to the Hon. the Council, in the room of the Rev. Mr. Fullerton, gone off the island.
