All burials were performed by the Revd. Anthony Quigly, Roman Catholic.

A "prisonnier sur parole" was not confined to a jail, and was free to move around, under the understanding that if and when called upon to be incarcerated he would present himself to the authorities.


Navarre, Simon, native of Bordeaux [France], died 12/31/1797 in Kingston, former inhabitant of Jeremie, St. Domingue, buried in the Strangers' Burial Ground, Kingston, 1/1/1798. Witnesses: Antoine Fourmier de l'Hermitage knight of St. Louis, Jean Francois delaBiche, Frederic Mestayer, Louis Francois Augustin Cainturier, Victor Joseph Grandier, Charles Moulansun, all inhabitants of St. Domingue, by Anthony Quigley "serving the Roman Catholic Chapel, tolerated in Kingston." [in French, p. 15]

Nepockino, [? illegible] a Spaniard, "he lived with Maria Cegula otherwise Philby", 11/28/1797 in the consecrated ground in Kingston. [p. 14v]

Nicenne, Elizabeth, widow aged 64 years, native of Landean [France], died 3/4/1799 in the evening, buried 3/5/1799. Witnesses: Dumas, Biffari, Robusted Fridellis. [in French. p. 25v]

Nicholas, a Spaniard who lived with Francisca, a Curacao woman, 4/9/1796 in the consecrated ground in Kingston. [p. 5]

Oferall, Adele, born Kingston 6/3/1794 legitimate daughter of Jacques Joseph Oferall, major commanding the Bataillon of Dillon, and his wife Adelaide Girouard, died 12/9/1798, and buried 12/10/1798 in the cemetery of the Catholic cemetery in Kingston. Witnesses: William Collette officer in the Dillon Regiment, Abbot Mouchet. [in French, p. 22v]

Olivier, Marie Francoise Chanpenuis, aged 41 years, born in the parish of St. Louis in St. Domingue, wife of the late Jacques Olivier suit tailor, legitimate daughter of the late Simon Chanmepius merchant in St. Louis and Marie Francoise Barrault both inhabitants of St. Domingue, died 1/3/1799 at half past midnight, buried 1/3/1799 in the Roman Catholic Church cemetery in Kingston. Witnesses: Robin, Elizabeth Elgincourt. [in French, p. 23]

Onffroy, Adelaide Dufresne de Virel, wife of Mr. Teague Roland Onffroy, 9/3/1795, native of Rennes in Bretagne [France] and inhabitant of Puy ?, Quartier du Sud of St. Domingue, parish of Tiburon, "prisonnier sur parole" (prisoner under oath) in Kingston for about 18 months. Witnesses: wife of Aquart, Lagautay, Miolay, Peychaud, Onffroy. [in French. p. 1v]

Pardo, Joseph, a Spaniard and pilot of one of the Spanish ships called S. Pee, 7/11/1797 in the consecrated ground in Kingston. [p. 12v]

Pernot, Mr., died at one o'clock 12/10, buried 12/22/1795 in the consecrated ground in Kingston. [p. 4]

Peter a Spaniard who died aboard an American ship S.S. Rolando. Buried 1/31/1796 in the consecrated ground in Kingston. [p. 4v]

Phelan, Captain Patrick, an Irishman, 6/23/1799 in the New Burying Ground in Kingston. [p. 27]

Philipo, a Genues, died in Pepe's house. Buried 4/7/1798 in the consecrated ground in Kingston. [p. 16v]

Pierces, Charles, knight of St. Louis, inhabitant of the north of St. Domingue, died in Kingston 8/8/1797, born in Normandie [France] 10/8/1733, buried 8/9/1797 in the Kingston Catholic cemetery. Witnesses: Fourmier de l'Hermitage, Chevalier [knight] Destoure. [in French, p. 13]

Ponssard, Francois, 8/20/1795, in the Kingston Roman Catholic church cemetery, mulatto slave belonging to Madame Derusa, inhabitant of L--- de ------, [possible ink spill on page] St. Domingue, age about 40 years. Witness C. Penham. [in French. p. 1]

A Portuguese, who "died in the house of a Jew opposite to Levi Hart." Buried 5/29/1796 in the consecrated ground in Kingston. [p. 6v]

Poup--, Marie Anne H., wife of Poup---, [ink blot] native of the province of Poitou, in Poitiers, parish of St. Toriber, buried 9/6/1798 in the Catholic cemetery in Kingston. Witnesses: B. Lafosse, Benucorps, Barbot, Fremat, Kenscoffy. [in French, p. 20v]

Rivero, Francisco, a Spaniard, died in Silver's house. I also did one mass for the repose of his soul. Buried 6/18/1798 in the consecrated ground in Kingston. [p. 17v]

Rives, Emanuel Garcia, 4/2/1797 in the consecrated ground in Kingston. [p. 11]

Rodriguez, Emanuel, a Portuguese, died in the house next to Jacob the saddler. He was married to one Miss Jennings a great drunkard. Buried 5/30/1798 in the consecrated ground in Kingston. [p. 17v]

Rourbes, Elizabeth called Brown, born at Jacquemel in St. Domingue, died 10/17/1798 in Kingston aged about 32 years, buried 10/18/1798 in the cemetery of the Roman Catholic church in Kingston. [in French, p. 28v. Inserted by de L'Espinasse based on the certificate by A. Quigley]

Sacaril, Baphise, native of Sepontur in the Republic of Gene, aged about 20 years, inhabitant of the parish of Dalmarie, St. Domingue, 12/31/1797 in the Kingston Catholic cemetery. Witnesses: Delboy, Menard junior. [in French, p. 15v]

A Spaniard, who "died in the house of Pedro where Clerk the watchmaker did live." Buried 2/10/1798 in the consecrated ground in Kingston. [p. 15v]

Sauchiere, Rose (nee Perret), wife of Francis Sauchiere, 9/1/1795 in the consecrated ground in Kingston. She died in the large house adjoining the Pattison's garden, on August 31st, aged 36 years. [p. 1v]

Sicard, Pierre, 8/20/1795, in the Kingston Roman Catholic church cemetery, native of Aurillac in Auvergne [France], inhabitant of La Grande Riviere du Nord, St. Domingue, "prisonnier de guerre" (prisoner of war) for about 10 months. Witnesses: B. Bernis, le chevalier [knight] G--ruste, Czouche. [in French p. 1]

Sicolin, Captain Marc, buried in the consecrated ground, Kingston 5/10/1799. "He was administered by me before he expired." [p. 26]

Silvester, a Portuguese, 2/24/1798 in the consecrated ground in Kingston. [p. 15v]

A Spaniard who died in the house of a Jew named Maratchi near Mr. Silver's house. Buried 5/8/1796 in the consecrated ground in Kingston. [p. 6v]

Sle, Emanuel Pierre Adrien aged about 33 years, native of Rouen in Normandie [France], mariner, died 1/12/1799, buried 1/13/1799 in the Roman Catholic Church cemetery in Kingston. Witnesses: Mahe. deSauveplane, Morel. [in French, p. 23v]

Smith Patrick, a sailor belonging to American ship. He was a native of Fingall in Ireland. The captain called me to attend him. He died in a house on West Street. Buried 5/22/1798 in the consecrated ground in Kingston. [p. 17v]

Sutton, Mr., an officer in the 3rd Regiment Irish Brigades, 8/31/1796 in the consecrated ground in Kingston. [p. 8]

Trevey, Antoine Chevalier de Trevey, Captain of the Hussards in the British Legion, aged about 42 years, native of Sartar in the diocese of Agen [France], died in Kingston 9/17/1797 at 2:00 a.m., buried 9/17/1797 at 6:00 p.m in the Kingston Catholic cemetery. Witnesses: Fournier de l'Hermitage, de Leonardy, captain of the Royal British Legion. [in French. p. 13v]

Valentine, Ann, 3/19/1797 in the consecrated ground in Kingston. [p. 10v]

de la Villeneoneye, Joseph, native of the parish of Saint Yrieix in Limousin, aged about 24 years, Lieutenant in the York Regiment of Hussards, died in Kingston, buried 1/15/1799 in the Roman Catholic Church cemetery in Kingston.. Witnesses C. duSouchet, Fr. G. LeCun. [in French, p. 23v]

Walsh Count Antoine, knight of the military order of St. Louis, Colonel in the service of the King of France, aged about 55 years, 4/26/1798 in the cemetery of this Catholic church. Witnesses: Fournier de l'Hermitage. Lalanne de Beaumara--, Montagnac, Labiche senior, Mansigny, Couppe, Chev. DuBoisqueheneux, Nouet, LaBiche de Seigne, Rochanson, curate of Cap Dame Marie, Mestayar, Lepays Bourjolly, R. Lepays de Bourjolly, DelaVilleon, Dujourdin. [in French, p. 17]

Warren, Mary Ann, 12/31/1796 in the New Burying Ground, Kingston. [p. 9v]

Yvon Aimee Louise Henriette, legitimate daughter of Philippe Yvon and Louise Coudray Yvon inhabitants of Les Cayes St. Domingue, buried 5/20/1796 at 6:00 p.m. in the cemetery of the Catholic Church in Kingston. Witnesses: J. Muloniere, N. Coustard, Nicholas Ballix. [in French p. 6]
