Registrar in Chancery and Clerk of the Patents 1763.  Resigned 1770.  His wife Anne, daughter of John Clement of Petersfield Co., Southampton Esquire, died S.T. of Small Pox 1764, aged 52 years, and was buried within the Communion Rails of the Cathedral.

A private act was passed in 1703, for confirming an agreement made between Olivia Reid, widow, and Nathaniel Brown and Anna Petronella his wife for the maintenance of the said Olivia Reid, and providing portions and annuities for the children of George Reid and John Reid deceased; and for appointing commissioners to sell lands for payment of debts and other uses.
In 1721 a private act was passed for vesting certain lands in St. Thos. Vale in Trustees for the use of George Reid, Esqre. and his heirs.

Rebecca, wife of Col. Thomas Reid, died 1747; aged 21 years.  Interred on Golden Grove Estate, in Trelawny, formerly St. James.
She was daughter of Col. R. Haughton, by his second wife, Elizabeth, daughter of George Goodin.  Mary, younger daughter of Col. Richard Haughton, by Elizabeth, married (29, March 1743) Col. John Reid, elder brother of the above.  Of the same family was Major Gen. Peter Reid, who married Elizabeth Barrett, relict of Ezekiel Lawrence, of The Spring Estate [Lawrence Pedigree].  Also Major General Thomas Reid was married Elizabeth, daughter of James Lawrence of Fairfield (Archer).

In 1770 a private act was passed for vesting several pieces and parcels of land in Westmoreland part of the estate of George Ricketts late of the same place Esqre., deceased in certain Trustees to sell and dispose of the same, and to apply the proceeds for the use and benefit of his son William Henry Ricketts for and during the term of his natural life and for such other uses agreeable to the will of the said George Ricketts.

RODNEY, Admiral Sir GEORGE BRYDGES
Afterwards Lord Rodney.  Arrived in Jamaica with a powerful squadron in 1772.  A Marble Statue was erected to his Memory in Spanish Town.  He died in England on 21 May 1792, aged 74 years.

M.A. St. Thos. Vale 1675, '7, '8, '9, '86.  St. John 1688, '91, '93.  His daughter and Co heir, Elizabeth, married John Fuller of Brightling Co., Sussex.  Fulke Rose married Elizabeth daughter and Co heir of John Langley, Alderman of London.  She married secondly Sir Hans Sloane.

SADLER, FRANCIS
M.A. St. James 1745, '49.  Died 1754.
The Estate Halse Hall, agreeable to the will of the third Thomas Hals, after the death of his son, Thomas Richard Hals, became the property of his half brother, Francis Sadler, who thereupon assumed the name of Hals in addition to Sadler, by act of the Island Legislature, 15, May 1746.  In 1739, Capt. Francis Sadler obtained five patents of 300 acres each, and established the oble estate of Mont Pelier.  He represented St. James in 1745, '46, and again as Francis Sadler Hals in 1749, and dying in 1750, '51, without issue, left Halse Hall to his widow Jennet, who by her first husband John Hynes had 2 daughters, Elizabeth who married Goodin Elletson, and Helen who married Thomas Beach Chief Justice.  Both ladies were buried at Halse Hall.  (Archers M.I.)
Mr. Sadler Hals married Jannet the widow of John Hynes.

In 1777 a private act was passed for vesting in Trustees several pieces of land part of the estate of the Honble. John Scott Esqre., deceased in trust to sell for payment of debts of said John Scott.

Law passed in 1702 reimbursing John Sadler for money expended by him for Mrs. Sarah Grace Sedgwick, a minor for the improvement of her estate.

SELWYN, Mjr. General Rt. Hon. WILLIAM
Col. Of 22nd Regiment, arrived January 1702 as Governor.  Died S.T. 5, April 1702.  The House of Assembly voted £2,500 to be presented to his remains.  In August 1702, the House voted £2,000 to be paid to his heir at law and £100 "to the Captain of the Man of War that carried off Madam Selwyn."

Lieut. H.M.S. Sphinx.  Nephew of the Earl of Westmorland.  Brother of Sir Thomas Stapleton Baronet.  Died in attempting to fire off a cannon in the Fort at Port Morant, 1754.  Interred P.R.C.; aged 28 years.

He was grand father of Sir William Stevenson, Judge Supreme Court, afterwards Governor of Mauritius, Monument erected in K.P.C. by the Merchants of Kingston.

In 1733 a private act was passed to establish confirm and secure the right and title of John Stewart Esqre. To a house in the town of St. Jago de la Vega, commonly called the Fort House with vertain lands thereto belonging.  And in 1736 a private act was passed to confirm the sale of the same place and confirming and securing the title of the present owner under the said sale.  Vide "Rainey."

M.A. Clarendon 1677, '8, '9, '86, '91, '98, 1701, Vere 1695.  Speaker 1691 to 1693, and again in 1698.  M.A. Port Royal 1703, '6, St. Ann 1704.  He was speaker in 1692, at the time of the Earthquake.  Died (Vere Parish Church) 1710; aged 72 years.
He was a gallant soldier and defended Carlisle Bay Breastwork against the French, under Ducasse in 1694.

Died St. Andrew's P.C. 1740; aged 34 years.

Attorney at Law.  Deputy Reg. Vice Admiralty Court 1774.
