WILL:

All debts and legacies to be paid as soon as possible after my decease out of the monies due and owing to me (a pretty just state of which may be found in my books and from the information of Mr. George Woodbine)...

I manumise and set free from all manner of slavery whatsoever my Negroe woman named Bessy and her mulatto boy an infant unnamed, to hold and enjoy such manumission and enfranchisement unto the said Bessy and her said son from the day of my decease absolutely and for ever.

I give and bequeath unto the said Negroe woman Bessy the sum of £100 and to the said mulatto boy £200 and hereby recommend them both to the care and protection of my executors.

To my cousin John Sangster at present overseer on Albany Estate, Westmoreland, the whole of the legacy left by me by our late uncle Hugh Wilson [*] surveyor deceased which by reference to the Will of the said Hugh Wilson will more fully appear.

I give and bequeath to a certain mulatto boy named William Burt the reputed son of my friend Alexander Burt of Hanover, surveyor, £50.

All the reset and residue of my estate both real and personal I give to my two sisters Elizabeth and Barbara and to the child or children of my deceased sister Isabell, share and share alike.

Executors: my said cousin John Sangster, and my friend James Robertson attorney at law

To my beloved wife Sarah Jane Sangster I leave property part of Fullerswood Park known as Bennett Piece and William Piece about 207 acres and buildings, for her sole use and benefit during her life, and should she have a child or children for me, then after her death the land goes to them, otherwise it goes to my son Charles Adolphus Sangster and his heirs.

To William Burns Sangster, my son, part of Fullerswood Park known as Salt Spring Piece and Bamboo Piece, about 113 acres.

To John Cecil Sangster, my son, part of Fullerswood Park known as House Commons, 233 acres and buildings thereon.

To Peter Watt Sangster, my son, part of Fullerswood Park known as Quconwell Pine Piece and Palmer Piece 116 acres.

To Charles Adolphus Sangster, my son, part of Fullerswood Park known by the names of Top Cornwall Bottom Cornwall Jobes Piece Pot Piece and Mullings Piece about 89 acres.

To Agnes Christine Latham part of Fullerswood Park known as Clove Pond 14 acres or thereabouts for her sole use and benefit for ever.

I give all my live stock share and share alike among the said legatees Sarah, William, John, Peter and Charles.

Any money left over after paying my debts goes to Sarah, and any furniture in the house at Bennett Piece.

The 1910 Commercial Directory, and the Gleaner reports of his death, list him as a Surveyor.

WILL:

I appoint my wife Casandra Feodore Louise Sangster and Louis Burns Sangster as Executors, until my son Donald Burns Sangster attains the age of 21 years when he must act jointly with them. I direct that my wife Casandra Feodore Louise Sangster must be supported off my properties until her death.

I give to my son Louis Burns Sangster all that portion of Fullerswood Park known by the name of Bennett Piece and Ruinate containing 208 acres more or less with all the building thereon. I also give to Louis Burns Sangster those portions of Alscott Pen known by the name of The Commons, Samms Piece, Hungerford, Road Piece, Top Road Piece, Nation Piece, Barbary Hall Piece, Guinea Corn Piece, David Piece, Paddock Hill Piece and Hormigan.

I give to my son Donald Burns Sangster all that part of my property called The Orchard along with all the lands bought from Kildare and that part of Brown Berry bought from the legatees of the late William Samuels, also all that part of Alscott called Posapan, Old Ground, Top Posapan, Kitchen Piece and Kells Piece, the division of these pastures shall be the centre of the ridge where there is no wall or fence, ridge running roughly north to south.

I also give to Donald Burns Sangster all that portion of Fullerswood Park known as Salt Spring, Bamboo Pot Piece Goras Piece Mullings Piece, Cornwall with those portions of land purchased from Arlington adjoining these pieces.

There shall be no dividing up of the properties until Donald Burns Sangster attains the age of 21 years.

The properties Orchard and other portions adjoining willed to Donald Burns Sangster and the part of Alscott willed to Louis Burns Sangster shall be run jointly for the benefit of my wife and 2 sons and shall not be divided until after the death of my wife.

I give to my wife Casandra Feodore Louise Sangster that piece of land situate on Santa Cruz Mountains called Stony Hill containing 3 1/2 acres more or less with the buildings thereon for her sole use.

I give to my sons Louis Burns Sangster and Donald Burns Sangster all that mountain property situate in the parish of Westmoreland known by the name of Carrawina Mountains for their sole use and benefit jointly.

I direct that the live stock and rolling stock on the properties be for the use and benefit of my wife and 2 sons Donald Burns Sangster and Louis Burns Sangster

I direct that my just debts be paid and any cash money in any bank be at the sole disposal of my wife Casandra Feodore Louise Sangster . The rest and residue shall be at my wife's disposal.

To my brother George Sangster £200, but should he die or fall in the service of his King and Country being in the British Navy then the £200 to be divided between his wife and his children but should he not be married the legacy to go to my residual legatee.

To my housekeeper Arabella Fraser a slave belonging to New Hope Estate, Westmoreland, £100.

I give to my reputed son George Sangster, a slave, £200

I give the rest of my estate to my sister Barbarah but in case of her death I will that the residue of my estate be equally divided between the children of all my brothers and sisters.

Executors: William Wilson of Westmoreland, cooper, John Marshall and David Finlayson, Esquires, of Westmoreland, and request that all the legacies be paid within four years of my decease.
