[refers to the Church of England in Jamaica, also called Anglican Church]
consists of a Bishop and three Archdeacons, who are appointed and paid by the British Government; a Rector to each of the 14 parishes of the Island, and 38 Island Curates, who are paid out of the Island Treasury, and 16 stipendiary Curates, 11 of whom are partly paid by the British Government. There is also a Chaplain to the Kingston General Penitentiaries at £400 a year, who is appointed by the Governor, and a Registrar of the Diocese. There are also 12 Catechists paid by the Government, and 17 supported by the Jamaica Home Missionary Society.
Each Rector has either a Glebe provided by the Parish, independent of his salary from the Public Treasury, or receives from the Parish from £80 to £100 in lieu of Glebe.
Some of the clergy are also Chaplains to the troops in the Island, for which they are remunerated by the British Government.

The Synod's Academy for the training of Teachers and Preachers in connection with the Presbyterian Church is in Montego Bay.

This body was formed by the amalgamation in 1857 of the Wesleyan Methodist Association with the Wesleyan Reformers. The united churches now number about 65,000 members. They have in this Island 24 stations and over 1,900 members, under the care of 7 missionaries and 2 supernumeraries.
There is a Sabbath School at nearly every station, and at 10 of the stations efficient Day-Schools have been in operation for many years.
