Educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England, Robert entered Caius College, Cambridge University, in 1821. A Scholar 1821 - 1828, he qualified with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in 1825. Ordained by the Bishop of Bath & Wells Nov. 5th 1826, George then served as a Curate at Dowry Square Chapel, Clifton, Gloucestershire, England, from 1826 - 1839, and was a minor Canon of Bristol Cathedral, 1826 - 1839. On arriving in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, he was appointed Incumbent of St. James (Anglican) 1839/40 - 1884. Served as Canon St. Andrew's Cathedral, Sydney, 1849 - 1891, he was also Chancellor of the Diocese of Sydney, and Vice-Chancellor of Sydney University 1876 - 1891. Author of "Lectures on the Papal Claim of Jurisdiction".

CHAMBERLAINE. Information required of one Charles John CHAMBERLAINE, 12 years of age, son of the late Dr. CHAMBERLAINE, Kingston, Jamaica, who came out to this colony some time previous to January, 1855, in the ship Glentanner, Charles Chapman master. The boy is belived to have been, shortly after landing, a waiter, in Melbourne, at a public-house kept by an American. Information to the Inspector of Detectives, Melbourne, 5th January, 1857.

Educated by Rev. H.A. Henry of St Alban's, Westminster, Alexander taught himself Hebrew at Holland House, Hammersmith, London. In 1848 he was Master of the Westminster Jew's Free School, then in 1852 appointed Rabbi of the Synagogue in Portsmouth, Hampshire. Sometime after 1853 he went to Kingston, Jamaica, taking charge of the English and German congregation. Returning to England seven years later, in May 1862 set out for Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. For 41 years thereafter he served as the Reverend Minister of the Great Jewish Synagogue, Sydney. Alexander was also one of the founders of the Savings Bank

Joining the South Australian Police Force in 1862, he was Inspector of the Metropolitan Police before resigning in 1866.  For a short time he served as Warden of the goldfields, before rejoining the South Australian Police Force in 1874. William was reneged as Superintendent, then served as Acting Commissioner in 1881 and Commissioner in 1882.

Serving in that capacity at Demerara and Guiana, he was invalided back to England in 1843.  In Chester, England, he served as a deacon, and from Dec. 22nd 1844 until 1845 was assistant curate at Lindale, Westmoreland. In South Australia he was incumbent of Blakiston in the Adelaide Hills from May 1846 - 1850, Incumbent of Burra in the mid-north from Apr. 3rd 1850 - 1855, then Rector of St. Luke's, Adelaide from1855 - 1881. Due to failing health, he retired May 17th 1881.

VIDAL, Francis, Church of England minister , born Nov. 26th. 1805, Jamaica, s/o Master of the Court of Chancery (Jamaica) John James VIDAL, later of Clifton, Bristol, England, [Compare Vidal, and Vidal 2]; died Jun. 20th 1884 Bath, Somersetshire, England; married Mary T. JOHNSON d/o C. W. JOHNSON of Great Torrington, Devon, England.

Educated at Camberwell, Surrey, and Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, Francis then entered Cambridge University's Caius College May 21st 1827. Matriculating the same year, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in 1831, and Master of Arts (MA) in 1863. Ordained as a Deacon in 1831 by the Bishop of Gloucester, and Priest (Exeter) in 1832, both for the Bishop of Exeter; he then went as a missionary to New South Wales, Australia. On returning to England, Francis was a Dominie at Eton from 1847 - 1865, then both Priest and Curate at Beachley, Gloucestershire 1866 - 1888. From 1872 - 1884 he was vicar at Sutton, Suffolk.

VIDAL, George, Church of England minister , born Apr. 28th. 1815, Spanish Town, Jamaica, s/o Master of the Court of Chancery (Jamaica) John James VIDAL & Elizabeth, later of Clifton, Bristol, England; [Compare Vidal and Vidal 3]; died Jan. 10th 1878 Sydney, New South Wales; buried Rookwood Cemetery, Sydney

Educated Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, George was admitted to Middle Temple, London, England,  Jan. 25th. 1832. On entering Cambridge University's Caius College May 8th 1834, he Matriculated in 1835. Transferred  to the University's Trinity College Jul. 5th. 1837, he qualified with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in 1839. George sailed the following year for New South Wales, Australia, residing on arrival for some with his brother Francis Vidal (see above), who was engaged in both pastoral pursuits and a missionary work, Ordained in 1843, George then served as Incumbent for the parishes of Sutton Forrest and Campbelltown, Sydney, from 1849 - 1851. Briefly visiting England in 1845, on his return was Incumbent of St. Mary's, Denham Court with Cabramatta from 1851 - 1856. Following he served as Incumbent of Mulgoa from1856 - 1865, but with the departure of Cannon Walsh for England in 1865 succeeded him as Incumbent of Christchurch, St. Lawrence, Sydney, from 1865 - 1878. With his health failing in 1876, on Dec. 27th 1877 he left for to recuperate. When returning to Sydney, he died during the voyage on Jan. 10th 1878.
